Barrett does give Koch good grades for his 10-yr. housing program.
But Wayne has it right.
The corruption of the outer borough politicos had penetrated Koch’s administration over many years, and it was only in his last term that the chickens came home to roost.

It was a combination of crony capitalism and ol’ time political corruption.

To suggest Koch had no knowledge of the barnacles that had accumulated on his ship of city/state is ridiculous.

But RIP Mr. Ed.
Meeting his maker would definitely have Mr. Koch doing all the talking.

Barrett never suffered political fools or political corruption easily.

Republican approval of the governor, 68 – 18 percent in a survey by the independent
Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University on December 12, just two days before the Newtown
massacre, is a split 44 – 43 percent today.

Democratic support, 82 – 9 percent in December, is 74 – 14 percent today. Approval by
independent voters drops from 70 – 12 percent to 54 – 32 percent.

Women approve of Gov. Cuomo 64 – 23 percent, down from 73 – 12 percent. Men
approve 54 – 33 percent, down from 74 – 14 percent…)

Yes, there has been some reduction in the Gov.’s overall support.
But one must drill down, into the numbers, to really make good conclusions.

Dem, respondents support Cuomo 74-14;and independents, 54-32%.

If you split the % differences among Dems. and independents, Cuomo’s favorability could be around 64%..not too shabby.

In a reelection in 2014, Cuomo will not be worried about the Rep. voters.
He continues to be in good standing with the center/left voters.

The photo was taken last Aug. 4, on Obama’s 51st birthday.

The only casino I’ve been in is the Turning Stone in Rome, NY

I ate there, super buffet operation.

And just walked around the actual slots, betting area.

Some of those sitting there seemed stoned (stoned at the Turning Stone).LOL.

This operation also attracts some big name entertainment.. Michael Bolton is there this month. (is Mr. Bolton still “big”?) …to each his own.

Turning Stone is owned by the “Oneida Indian Nation in Verona, New York. The facility opened July 16, 1993..”

It assume, without doing research, that the state has difficulty in collecting accurate revenue..if any from this operation.

Money is the god that we should bow down to.
I’ve been to the Javits Center many centuries ago…the neighborhood was seedy then…what would adding casinos do to the surrounding neighborhood?

I’m too old (150 yrs. young) to have an interest in these movies.

and the trailers on some current ones have Chris Walken, Al Pacino, Stallone, even Arnold looking like zombies.

these “action” flicks have no redeeming social value..except money.

You support expanded casinos because of the money …so do you favor these violent flicks because of the mula?

With a few exceptions, you are right in your mantra “Does Hollywood have no shame.”
