Superbowl madness!!!

Enough already.

I've had it up the wazoo with this game.

******************

The Big Easy is expected to generate $500K from the game.

We should all hope the money goes to Hurricane Irene recovery.

Beyoncé promises to sing live at the half time.

She has a good voice, with super range; and she is very attractive.

If my DVR was working, or if I knew how to work it, I would record the game; and replay only the commercials and Beyoncé.

The winning team's players will earn $88K +; and the losers will get half that.

They should give it all to good charities.

The Super Bowl is another example of the corporate takeover of our culture.

It's a diversion; and hopefully everyone behaves, stays sober, and gets back to the real world Monday.

I have little interest in the game itself; or in football.

I do have interest in the tomorrow's Chowderfest in the great historical city of Saratoga Springs.

For those in the Capital region, come on up and taste the variety of chowders; and it's all for good charities.

The award winning southern fried chicken restaurant Hattie's will be
" serving a Clam and Andouille Sausage Chowder."

A block away, Ben and Jerry's will serve a Dessert Chowder: 'Phish Chowder' with M&M 'croutons' and a touch of whipped cream.

And then you can go over to the Hawthorn Spring, and drink some mineral water.
I'm 150 yrs. old, and the mineral springs often make me look and feel like an 100 yr. old.

From Liz's link: [On those trips Menendez supposedly consorted with prostitutes, including potential minors...]

Potential? Like I'm potentially rich and famous? Either you have evidence of minors or you don't. I suspect the latter.

While I don't think that senators should be cavorting with prostitutes, Menedez isn't the first one to do it. Republican Senator David Vitter comes to mind. He's still in Congress, by the way.

Menendez wasn't arrested when he was in the Dominican Republic. He's certainly not going to be arrested in the U.S. His behavior is a matter for people of State of NJ to deal with. There's nothing conservative busy bodies can do...unless they live in NJ. Deal with it.

p.s. I assume that Menendez IS guilty of screwing around. He might as well admit it sooner rather than later. He WILL have to admit what he's done and take a beating for it. The problem isn't going to go away on its own. Nobody loves a good scandal more than the press.

Republicans hammered secretary-of-defense nominee Chuck Hagel over his positions, but his confirmation is expected.

***********************

Yesterday, Sens. McCain and Lindsey Graham made ol’ Joe McCarthy seem like a religious saint.

McCain went for Hagel’s jugular, demanding to know if Hagel regrets his earlier opposition to the Iraq “surge”.

McCain: “I think history has already made a judgement on the surge, and you’re on the wrong side of it.”

There is the story of Nixon’s national security guru, Dr.Henry Kissinger making chit chat, small talk, with China’s Zhou Enlai.

Using his definition of small talk, Henry asked Zhou whether he thought the French Revolution was a positive event.

Zhou replied that “it was too soon to tell.”

Now if I was Hagel, I would have cut McCain off by telling him it was too soon to tell if the surge was successful.

That’s why I never would have been nominated for Defense Secretary. LOL.

The Iraqis will have to work hard to keep its’ Western style parliamentary democracy intact.

The Shiites and Sunnies are still battling; and the Kurds want their own nation.

Hagel opposed the Bush 2/neo-con invasion of Iraq.

It was an unnecessary war of choice, with few international supporters (except for Tony Blair).

When the costs of tending to the wounded soldiers over time is included,
the Iraq war will cost us trillions, paid for without raising taxes (in
fact, fought after Bush 2 reduced taxes).

(Ed Koch, the three-term mayor of New York City known worldwide for his chutzpah, 88. (AP))

**********

RIP Mayor.

Ed Koch was the quintessential NYCer.

The picture of Koch and Mario sitting together after?, or before a debate, is a classic.

Both displayed utter distain.

Mr. Koch was a character out of political fiction.

But as the super NYT obit. describes, he was apparently a terrible
administrator, with little oversight over his commissioners and
departments.

His outsourcing of power, contracts and payoffs to the borough political chiefs is crony capitalism at its’ worse.

Building your Vacation home on the Moon, and Mars with 3D Printig

Building a lunar base with 3D printing

Setting up a lunar base could be made much simpler by using a 3D printer to build it from local materials. Renowned architects Foster + Partners have joined with ESA to test the feasibility of 3D printing using simulated lunar soil (regolith). The architects devised a weight-bearing “catenary” dome design with a cellular structured wall … more…

Yes 3D Printing will build you a home on the Moon or in Guilderland.

The "FEDS" have invested so much time and effort into this and to come up empty so far says a lot.
