Yoko Ono Hopes Cuomo Sees This Ad

Anti-fracking advocate Yoko Ono hasn’t had a chance to meet with Gov. Andrew Cuomo to discuss the hotly contested issue of natural gas extraction.

So she and Artists Against Fracking have made this TV ad, which will begin airing Friday through next week, displaying not-so-pretty images of drilling sites.

“Gov. Cuomo, since you haven’t met with me about the dangers of fracking, I will show you,” she says in the ad.

Ono, and her son Sean Lennon, have traveled to Albany and to Pennsylvania to lobby against the issue.

The Department of Health is expected to release its report on the effects of hydrofracking on human health sometime this month.

Oh, Yoko, thank you for making this video for Governor Cuomo, who will talk to the gas industry big corporations but not to you. And thanks to you and Sean and Artists Against Fracking so much for going to fracking sites and showing the world the truth. Fracking is bad for people and animals and the Earth.

I saw a reporter ask Cuomo if he would meet with Yoko, and Cuomo said “I’ll meet with anyone.” And the questioner didn’t guffaw or ROTFL, amazingly.

I’m against fracking but why should the Governor meet with Yoko Ono? Because she’s a celebrity? Come on. I believe the Gov will meet with (almost) anyone, but come on. He can’t meet with everyone. What is a dead Beatle’s wife going to add to the decision the governor has to make? Don’t be so silly and star struck just because she supports our side.

Governor Cuomo, when you decide, and if you decide to have this state allow one well to frack, you are opening up the door and it won’t ever close. If you do this, after all the scientific evidence has been presented to you that shows , without a doubt, the degradation of land, of water, of communities, of peoples’ health, you have not abided by your oath when you took the oath of office. You are suppose to be a “public servant” and the public has spoken, at least where I’ve been and seen. The majority of people in all of the state of NY, want you to BAN FRACKING NOW.

I generally agree, but am glad to see that you are against fracking and are not shooting the messenger and ignoring the message. There are many people well versed on the issues who agree with us on this including people who have worked in the industry, professors of geology, hydraulics, and other sciences as well as medical professional who share our concerns.
And then there are those like VJM who can only hurl insults but are totally incapable of making any argument for HVHF in NYS.
