Getting around to this one a bit late:

Sen. Toby Ann Stavisky today sent a letter to New York Rifle and Pistol Association President Tom King decrying the linkage of Adolf Hitler and the Nazis to Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the gun control law.

In the letter, Stavisky, D-Queens, writes that it’s “appalling” that protestors at the anti-gun control rally in Albany would use the imagery.

“It is unfortunate that these fringe individuals, with fringe ideas, are becoming the public face of your organization,” Stavisky wrote.

The lawmaker also urged King to denounce the comparisons.

“Too often groups and organizations turn a blind eye to the fringes within,” she wrote.

Earlier today NRA President David Keene told Fred Dicker that there was an explanation for the use of Nazi imagery in the protests.

“Folks that are cognizant of the history — not just in Germany but elsewhere — look back to the history and say we can’t let that sort of thing happen here,” he said.
